I enjoyed The Professor. The writing is great, nice bit of dark humour mixed in with an underlying message that hits you where he needs to. It runs through the cycle of emotions well; it'll have you laughing, tearing up, give you little bouts of frustration, and also leave you in patches of deep thought. It has a quaint and solemn energy about it, and through the writing, direction and some great performances, will have you glued to the screen. It takes a subtle approach but has a really powerfully pleasant undertone. The last shot will have you thinking for sure; thought it was a very satisfying ending. Really nice film.
Profound. Fearless. Human. Depp deserves to be nominated for an Oscar for this, and so does the writer. This is American Beauty with a hint of Office Space (not just because of Ron Livingston), and a dash of Breaking Bad. Pulls no punches, which is refreshing nowadays.
As a Drama lover , this is the first time that i see the real talent of Johny Depp ! he should really give us more. Great film and great acting.
Can't believe the the low score for this film. Outstanding performance by Johnny Depp ( I'm not his most ardent fan). A profound but light hearted film. Brilliantly done.
The Professor is Edward Scissorhands without the scissors. The old, hackneyed addage "live every day as if it were your last" is portrayed here in spades, so it is nothing new. We all know the drill; facing death, we change our perceptions and reactions to life and live it to the fullest until we kick the bucket. This has been done dozens of times before in dozens of movies. Depp is an adequate actor, but nothing special and the story is not that original; it has been done dozens of times before in TV and film. Spend your time and money elsewhere.
