Just when I thought Skyline was the worst sci-fi movie, The Recall appeared. If there was a zero estimate I would have given it. Several poorly connected scenarios of sci-fi films have given a whole that does not look like anything. The acting is zero.I can not believe that Wesley Snipes agreed to act in this nonsense.

This is the absolute worst movie I have ever, ever watched! I enjoy a variety of genres including sci fi and yes, I even enjoy some low budget B movies. This felt like a 10 year old wrote the script. Horrible. Garbage. Complete waste of time. Even in the 'not very good' movies, I can find something that was worth the watch. Not with this one. So heed my warning and don't waste your time.

Got this film an thought it would be your typical B film, poor graphics, even shittier acting and writing, set design . The acting wasn't as bad as many of the over the top 1 star reviews make out. The CGI was middle ranking, it not the best in the world but it far from being the worst CGI you will see in a film, in fact it reasonably respectable for this type of film. In fact I suspect many reviewers who are rating this film 1 star haven't seen many films at all. The characters did lack depth, apart from Snipes who we did get a lot of back story on. The aliens at least they have a motive that made sense, earth is just one giant petri dish for them to experiment on, it actually one of the better excuses for aliens invading earth, better than them wanting to steal our planet core or eat our brains. I was impress with the scenes on the alien ship, where see the aliens experimenting on humans, the make up and the set was all very impressively done, an on the gruesome side. No more gruesome than some of the experiments we perform on animals. It could have done with it being more like a dream state, make the lighting more vivid, with Charlie more unstable on his feet. Him kniving one of the aliens in the chest whilst laying in a pool of water was a bit a rambo for my liking and in my opinion for the character. The ending actually throws up a lot of interesting questions about what happens next in this film. The aliens chucking in 20,000 enhance individuals in a population of 7 billion seems to me like sending lambs to the slaughter.

This film had all the ingredients to be a decent flick. Professional cinematography, pretty good acting, a big name actor with Snipes, but the execution was just terrible. The editing was horrific, the script was poor at best. It was confusing and annoying. How many times can characters fall down and hit their heads??? The special effects were amateurish, and the ending was so bad. You are wasting your time if you watch it.

Based on some other IMDb reviews, I had very low expectations for this. Right off the bat, the vfx made it pretty obvious the budget for this was on the lower end, but I still found myself enjoying it. Wesley Snipes was great as this crazy hunter/hermit character who does taxidermy, and actually gets to stuff one of the aliens (it's a lot funnier than it sounds). The young cast was also pretty good. The cinematography and creature makeup/design were better than you'd normally expect for this kind of film. But there are definitely a few glaring flaws. The vfx could have been MUCH better and some of the editing was just plain confusing. The movie also clearly borrows elements from Cabin in the Woods and Fire In The Sky, but it does takes a very unsuspected turn near the end. So I do recommend the movie, but also to checking your expectations before watching it. If you're looking for the next Independence Day or Star Wars, this probably isn't for you. But if you enjoy smaller films with interesting ideas, quirky characters and a little humor, you'll most likely have a good time.

I was encouraged by the many positive reviews on IMDb and the fact Wesley Snipes was starring in it. Sadly the reviews must be fake because the film is terrible. The acting is wooden, the characters are plastic and story is awful. The alien ship was like something out of Hellraiser.

flopipop22/11/22 16:19

I like Snipes, couldn't care less about the rest of the cast, I like Sci-fi, the plot is more of a footnote than a script, it makes little sense and provides a theater for people acting the way they do with no real result. It mixes some suspense, sci-fi, slasher elements, but so little, and it's so bland...people and events come and go, then the movie ends. Entire movie feels like padding. Not boring, but definitely unfulfilling.

"The Recall" is a sci-fi movie that takes a "been there; done that" premise and puts a different and new spin on things. Five friends embark on a weekend trip to a cabin in the middle of nowhere for some fun. Unbeknownst to them, the world is under an alien attack and the aliens are looking for certain specimens, i.e. in the form of humans. It seems they want to create the next lineage of people who will inhabit this planet. This premise worked. What didn't work is what you had to go through from point A to point B. Saddled with people who constantly whine and pine about love lost and a Wesley Snipes character that seems thrown in for no reason, those involved simply managed to destroy what could have been a nice little film. Now, for those of you who gave the film one star because a "homer" reviewed it and gave it 10 stars...SHAME ON YOU. Do you think this is the first time that's been done? It's called promotion. I never go to a movie because it got great reviews. Face it, it is ultimately OUR decision--after we see the movie--to decide what is great and what sucks. Was this particular movie great? Oh, heck no. The plot had some holes you could put your fist through! But to savage it simply because you are offended by tactics used to promote it...well, I think IMDb should have qualifications for people to meet before they can comment on a movie. Rated "R" for language, brief nudity, and violence. This one is a tossup for me.

This movie couldn't be worse. The acting is bad. The script and story are bad. The special effects are terrible (even 20 years ago they had better effects). It's amazing that this could even make it to the cinemas. Avoid this at all costs. You've been warned. I hope I would have known before I started watching this.
