The TV series The War on the West, created by an unlisted creator and produced by an unlisted studio, first premiered on April 26, 2022 in an unspecified country. The series spans 0 seasons with 0 episodes, featuring the voices of an unlisted voice cast. It follows the story of Publisher's Summary China has concentration camps now. Why do Westerners claim our sins are unique? It is now in vogue to celebrate non-Western cultures and disparage Western ones. Some of this is a much-needed reckoning, but much of it fatally undermines the very things that created the greatest, most humane civilization in the world. In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric. After all, if we must discard the ideas of Kant, Hume, and Mill for their opinions on race, shouldn’t we discard Marx, whose work is peppered with racial slurs and anti-Semitism? Embers of racism remain to be stamped out in America, but what about the raging racist inferno in the Middle East and Asia? It’s not just dishonest scholars who benefit from this intellectual fraud but hostile nations and human rights abusers hoping to distract from their own ongoing villainy. Dictators who slaughter their own people are happy to jump on the “America is a racist country” bandwagon and mimic the language of antiracism and “pro-justice” movements as PR while making authoritarian conquests. If the West is to survive, it must be defended. The War on the West is not only an incisive takedown of foolish anti-Western arguments but also a rigorous new apologetic for civilization itself. ©2022 Douglas Murray (P)2022 HarperCollins Publishers. loved the book from start to end and at no point did I feel like I was listening just to get back into a juicy part of the book. the story flows so smoothly that its hard to put down.
There are a lot of things to disagree with in this book; however, there is also a lot to think about. Murray is giving us fair warning about what the future holds should we continue exactly as we are now. This is someone who loves the west and wishes to conserve and share the best parts of it, Murray is no apologist however and he will be the first to accept all the times in which the West has failed to live up to its own ideals. It was a really great book to listen to.On a funny note: Listening to Murray attempting to pronounce the names of the Aztec gods will make every Mexican grin. He does a good job but it doesn't make it any less funny for those who know how the names should be pronounced. (This is not a critique! I fail to pronounce worcestershire at least once a month, which I bet Brits find amusing).
In a time when all seem marred by politics of hate and rage, Murray’s voice almost delicately touches on the open wounds like sprinkles of joy and magic. You don’t have to belong to any certain ideological group to hear this song, just listen and let it move you. The grey, dull and sometimes malicious forces it stands up brilliantly and vivaciously against are but a remnant of a shadow we all contend with in our hearts. Thank you Douglas Murray!
Anyone who believes in the United States and the successes of Western Civilization should read this book.It recognizes the west’s contribution to the world while recognizing and addressing areas that are under constant attack by deconstructionist.Well researched, not based on simple loved experience this accounts for the war using data and the scientific method.
Author gets into interesting details and as a good voice to tell the story.Learn much from this book….
I couldn't stop listening. I love that Murray narrated his own book. WARNING: Not all authors should do this. I love the way he approached the topic. He's not angry or bitter, just as a matter of factly. I'm listening to it again, I just want to make sure I have properly digested every morsel.
Everyone in America, and the West for that matter, should read this book. Murray strikes down the rhetoric of those who demonize the West and offers a reasonable and rational counter argument that would have been common sense only a few decades ago. This is a good reminder that the West is not evil, but rather has created more good than any other culture around the world. This book is crucial.
Like all of his previous books this is yet another masterpiece by Douglas Murray.Brilliant beyond words with narration by the author himself.A must read.
Great book, hopefully it gets out and gains some traction. Well made points, actually inspired me to look into 4 other books
We need more people to read this book!! Should be required reading in high schools.
yet another fantastically researched and written book by Douglas Murray. a blend of social commentary and historical analysis that make for a compelling defense of Western history and values.
Always a great read from Douglas. It's always a better read from the author, you fell what they're trying to convey.
With all due respect to Douglas, this book comes across as a bitter, hectoring diatribe. Not as informative or funny as "The Madness of Crowds." I recommend listening at 1.5x speed. Maybe it's just an American bias, but you don't need to marinate over your words and pauses to illustrate your point. Furthermore, I found myself annoyed, often asking, "What exactly is your point Douglas?" Disappointing.
Well written and has a powerful message about many of the issues being faced in the United States and the world. Should be required reading at every university.
Highly educational and informative. Everyone in the world should read this book regardless of race, religion and nationality.
