I watched this movie with the subtitles on. There was one instance where the subtitles were very strange. It had to have been done on purpose, but I'm not sure why; it didn't add anything to the movie. Maybe it was just a joke? When Samantha finds the car wreck and the police arrive, Ben shows up also. He says to Samantha, "You look like a gH.O.S.T.". H.O.S.T. is the name of the home security/control system that is installed in the first house Samantha lives in and the tiny house that she moves into later. Ben says the word "ghost" as it is normally pronounced; there is no reason for the subtitles to be written that way. Anyway, as for the movie, it started out better than most of these TV movies do. But it devolved toward the end when who the bad guy is became obvious. Then we get the typical ending that we've seen too many times. Too bad; the movie had potential until the last 20 minutes or so.

But it isn't half bad. Beautifully shot and decently acted. If it wasn't for the commercial break-editing, I might not have known it was a TV movie. There is a strong anti-environmental message about the dangers of living minimally on a magnetic vortex in southwest Canada. But not even that is enough to dissuade me from a future of tiny home living. And of course the villain was the cast member literally named CONTRACTOR and not the greedy contractor she murders. Not making this up.

The dream house of Samantha and Kyle is state-of-the-art, environmentally conscious hideaway resembling a twenty-first-century version of "Little House on the Prairie." But in this film, the tiny home will turn into the "Little House of Horrors." Sam and Kyle had an argument about children. He wants babies, but Sam is reluctant after her miscarriage. Surprisingly, the film takes a major turn around the subject of who can carry Kyle's babies. When Kyle goes to the ocean to ruminate, he mysteriously vanishes. The police essentially declare him dead. Dealing with her grief, Sam decides to stay at the little dream house that Kyle had planned for her in the small community of Gravity Hills. It is there that all hell breaks loose. "Tiny House of Terror" was a frustrating film to watch because of too many underdeveloped characters. It was difficult to keep straight all of the friends and colleagues of Kyle, any one of whom may be a suspect in his strange disappearance. Of course, the police are helpless in providing any comfort to Sam, let alone conducting a thorough investigation. Still, the film has a payoff at the end in an outrageously conceived scene at the tiny house. The villain of the piece climbs aboard a wrecking machine with an enormous claw and starts tearing the house apart. There was some imagination involved in the build-up to that scene and a star turn by villain whose sights are set on Sam and Kyle and will eventually turn the home in Gravity Hills into Ground Zero.

A mediocre thriller. It tries but not very successful. But then, it is a made for TV life time movie.

One of the most excellent Lifetime movies out there that starts out with an intense hook. A very original plot about a woman Samantha who has two miscarriages and her husband Kyle, a tech mogul, who is reported missing when he allegedly falls from a climb. Samantha is left alone in their high-tech home with annoying alarms that don't obey her commands. Stressed out by the chaotic environment and wondering if her husband is really dead (he was an expert climber), she moves into a tiny house, which Sam later discovers was a secret surprise to her. Why didn't he tell her about it, especially after how mad he was when she kept the truth of taking birth control pills from him in order to avoid another miscarriage? Once she moves in, her cozy home turns into a place of fear. Someone is breaking in and taking pictures of her and Kyle and rigging appliances in an effort to hurt Sam. This makes her recall all the times that Kyle thought someone was breaking into their home, so now Sam puts more stock in those concerns. The high-tense mood continues throughout. And then there's the large cast: Mark, Kyle's business partner, whose wife, Sam's friend, cannot find, a contractor who Sam does business with, who seems slightly interested in her home, an environmental extremist who protested Kyle's and Mark's development plans, and Sam's sister who insists on taking care of their mother who's been diagnosed with dementia. This well put together film has you guessing. Many Lifetime movies throw in a lot of red herrings, but this one was especially difficult to figure out; in fact, I didn't guess who the culprit was at all! I will say that the villain's motives were far-fetched. It could have worked had there been more development toward it, but the explanation didn't gel with the villain's relationship with Sam. There certainly should have been signs, even if we only saw the villain alone to indicate the motivation. Nevertheless, an entertaining film with a strong protagonist and a compelling story line.

Skips back and forth in time. Unlikeable characters and not the best acting. Didn't care enough to watch the whole thing, so I read a spoiler and switched it off! If you like confusion and bad acting then go for it I guess.
