Two old men talk for two hours, with Clooney maintaining his signature cool demeanor and delivering a decent performance. However, the story drags on, and overall, it's just bad. The suspense falls flat, and the humor feels out of place. This could have been a serious, hard-hitting thriller filled with tension, but instead, it plays out like a parody. The movie lacks the darkness, unpredictability, and raw edge that something like "The Penguin" captures so well. It quickly veers off course-after a solid first 25 minutes, it devolves into nonsense. The gangsters don't come across as menacing or evil; they lack the grit and menace you'd expect from this genre, making the whole experience feel disappointingly soft.
Seeing George Clooney and Brad Pitt reunite in a movie was a genuine delight. They both play professional fixers forced to work together despite being lone wolves. Both of them continue to have wonderful chemistry, which leads to a relatively entertaining buddy cop sort of movie. However, the story is very straightforward and has all the expected tropes in these types of stories. The comedy isn't laugh-out-loud funny but can give you a slight smile. When there are action scenes, in which there is very little off, it is serviceable at most. It is a bit of a shame that with 2 huge stars, all they made was a generic and not-very-memorable movie. Nevertheless, it was still quite enjoyable to watch for a streaming movie.
Wow, I guess they thought they were amusing, but they weren't. And I was so looking forward to being entertained! Alas and alack! Not to be. It was slow to the point of glacial, obviously aimed at a US audience, they always want to belabour each and every point and detail, really make sure that they spend ten minutes telling/showing you what you already understood in under ten seconds, and then give you "one more time for the dummie$". It was so predictable and twee, I couldn't stand it. Another Hollywood fiasco where you can say nearly every line before it occurs, five minutes in you've worked out what is happening, what will happen, and the rest of the film is pointless thereafter. So I still watched it through, even though I was itching to wander off and do laundry - there were no improvements. I didn't expect it to be fantastic, but I wanted it to be just a certain level of entertaining. I got faux profundity, and then dumb and dumberer twigging at the end. Like the US film industry as a whole these days - looks slick, no substance. Nope.
hi
❤
I really went in expecting to be bored. Judging by the trailer it could've gone either way :D but i never got bored. The pace is great, the dialogue is classic brad and george - does not disappoint or fall flat even though we've seen it before. Same goes for the action, the jokes, the suspense - it all works and it feels nice to see it all work after seeing all couple movies lately that definitely disappointed. (Lee was BORING for example even though the main actress is great as always). Loved the minimalistic acting, the subtlety of some moments is just great to watch. Again it's all not new, not stuff we've never seen before, but job well done!
Clooney and Pitt have chemistry. The script has many smiles but not any laugh out loud moments. I like the idea of older actors in starring roles. The script is a bit messy and sequences don't always align to the story. It may try too hard at times and there are gaps but it was an easy watch. I was disappointed in the timeline. Apparently you can drive from Downtown Manhattan to China in 10 minutes and only see 9 cars. Shrug. The mystery puppet master was not fleshed out at all and didn't quite jive. It t definitely created an opportunity for a back story and a sequel. I'd prefer another Oceans. Clooney, Pitt, Matt Damn and Sandra Bullock I'd be all over. Add in Ryan Reynolds and I'd buy a ticket now.
