What can be done about the fake reviews that proliferate , universally intended to prop up terrible movies? In this case, no sentient being, human or otherwise, could possibly see any merit in this movie. There is no acting, no story, no direction, no dialogue, no sets and no plausibility to this dreck. You're better off watching Police Academy 17.
I know this film wasn't for everyone, and I don't blame them. It's low budget, and many of the information your given is just extraneous, but the general premise is enough that you don't feel like you've wasted an afternoon, and the effects were enticing enough that I was genuinely shocked in some places. Overall, I give it a 7 because it's already had a rough time, but understand that it's only going to be a select few's cup of tea.
Bottom line: Don't waste your $$. The preview and its first few minutes are promising but it goes downhill fast with a high boredom quotient.
This film start at 1959, a scientist "John" asking "Sera"(John testing subject) how to open a so called alien spaceship door! Ten years later, John transport to the same spaceship with Sera and several unknown person on the spaceship! As turnout, this film is about John enter a government project to study the intention of the so called alien invasion to earth! The alien species actually want to using human body as a fuel to run their spaceship! Entire film full of all the character in the spaceship flashback scene! Who care actually? Really bored to freaking death! The conversation even not intense and boring! Only intensity in the film is the profanity! At the end, Sera saying John already know the intention of the alien and she no need to exist anymore! All another character in the spaceship landing in an unknown place and saying they will fight the alien! Still have a post credit scene! Sera calling John on the monitor! Completely wasting time to watch!
Rarely it is that i review movies and it is only if they are either really good or really really bad. I feel don't have to say much about which is the case for this one. You cant just rip proper older movies like Matrix and Alien or even Oblivion, mix them in a utterly preposterous way and expecting it to work. That's why we don't do that because it doesn't! The characters are swallow and uninteresting. The plot is somewhat the same toped with long monologues of boring "scientific" nonsense. The visual effects are cheap and childish and the atmosphere created by all these elements is absurd to say the least. All and all, you cant just make good old mama's Sunday stew just because you've had it so many times cooked by someone else. It doesn't work this way and Project Ithaca is a fine example of that. 2/10 and not 1/10 because at least they had the courtesy to keep it under 90'.
I'm very impressed by this movie - something new, new angle, story, and move border a little further. Good processed music and scenes. This movie reminded me event 10years ago - very very big ecliptic ring half a night sky in space, it was see clearly 1hour how the earth was spinning - what happened there I never knew.
This film uses practical effects and an original, non-conventional plot to keep you guessing from beginning to end. For once, I did not just sit back and watch a checklist of items unfold. Thrilling, fast paced and fun. The story is the star and not the visuals. If you're a fan of early 70's realism in this genre then this gritty movie is for you.
I like the characters. This is a good syfy movie. I'm convinced that people hate "new movies" because they aren't like the ones that have shaped their personalities. I recommend Project Ithaca if you have access to it.
