I had a feeling before coming to the IMDb to write my comments on this movie that many other viewers before me would have savaged this movie, and I was correct. Not that these people are wrong in giving the movie a big thumbs down, though having seen thousands of movies in my lifetime, I can say safely that this particular movie does not deserve the lowest rating. I have seen MANY movies that are far worse than this effort. For what was obviously a painfully low budget, the movie looks okay (though I admit that a higher budget would have helped.) And it's always fun to see Danny Trejo, even though he does seem to be going on autopilot for this particular project. But yeah, the movie all the same is not good at all. I summed up why the movie is bad in the subject line of this review. The script provides absolutely nothing new - if you've seen your share of action movies, every plot turn and every character will be extremely familiar. Though you've probably never seen these elements unfold in the painfully slow fashion this movie choses to do so. Making matters even worse is that the movie is painfully weak when it comes to action. The first hour of the movie has almost no action; the filmmakers have to throw in a totally gratuitous bar fight to keep the audience awake. And what little action there is in the first hour or the last half hour isn't executed in a particularly exciting or engaging manner; it is strictly by the numbers. As I said, the movie isn't the WORST, but it is definitely BAD, even if you have a hankering for B movies as I often do.
One cliché after another, bad acting and quite possibly the most pointless film I've ever seen.
No words can describe this car crash of a movie. Actually angry that I wasted my time with it. Truly awful.
This is an LOL kind of movie. The random bar fight scene? Why is it even in the movie? So many big tough guys that are trying to relive their highschool bullying days in this. Please pay attention to the hit and run driver. Why does he scream and cry like that? Why is he crying like an animal? Strip club, no nudity for a rated R movie? Whatever that's okay, but the bar in the club? It's litterally like the hostess booth!!! The guy barely fits behind it and they told him to keep quite if he knows what's best (as they flash their gun at him)....How is that supposed to be intimidating to someone thats a guard for the cartels money laundering operation? Jokes! Should be a comedy instead! Enjoy!
SILENCER is another cheap action B-movie, serviceable enough but completely forgettable around an hour after you've watched it. The wooden Johnny Messner - one of the most lackluste leading men in action cinema - plays a former sniper who gets drawn down a dark pathway when a local crime lord's daughter is killed. What follows is a bunch of staple action moments that ladle on the violence and prove mildly satisfactory, although there's absolutely nothing here that hasn't been done many times before. Still, Danny Trejo and Robert LaSardo are long-time reliable villains and do entertain somewhat.
The tale has been told a thousand times, so nothing new here. However the pace is excruciatingly slow. not in the sense that more mayhem is required, but rather the plot remains stagnant and the characters remain one dimensional.
Where do I begin with this movie? Holy smokes. And not in a good way. Can acting get any worse than this? I still have this scene in my head of Tito Ortiz with a tooth pick in his mouth trying to be cool dude. Wonder who thought that one up? Chuck Liddell? Oh mighty gawd what's up with this Chucky? I was half expecting Brock Lesnar to show up in this movie and beat them both up. The writer and director need to be tied to a chair and forced to watch what they created. Can't think of any worse torture. Or they could tie me to a chair and beat me up for actually sitting through this. That wouldn't have been as much torture as I already suffered watching this. Danny Trejo has been in some stinkers before, but this one might have beat the others ones as far as the stank. Heard of B movies? This was a Z movie. This movie doesn't even deserve a 1. It's more like 1/2.
The acting, the storyline, everything is just awful. Low budget, and such random music..... Dub step playing during a kill scene.....
Sometimes it is great to watch a bit of junky action, where bad guys get killed in a spectacular fashion. This film didn't deliver. Acting awful. Script awful. Story awful. And worst of all, action awful! Do something more fun like watching paint dry.
Man I have seen some bad ***** films on Netflix, but this takes the cake. Some of the worst dialogue and acting ever. Plot totally devoid of originality. How can anyone put a film like this together and then sit back at the end and think job well done... The mind boggles.... If you really don't have anything else to do, like cleaning hair out of the plug hole, emptying the bins or just contemplating mortality, then waste some hours of your life watching this. I had to finish it just to see how much worse it got.
