This might be the worst western I have ever seen. The plot is completely nonsensical, the editing was terrible, and the acting was just the worst. The soundtrack is plain bad. Do not waste your time or money on this garbage. I have never felt compelled to write a review until the credits started to roll on this film. The random violence has no pertinence to the story, the supernatural effects come off as absolutely silly. The only thing that comes close to redeeming this pile is Cole Hauser basically playing Rip Wheeler in the Old West, however even that is not enough to justify the awful things that go on around him in this bad bad bad movie. Do not waste your time.
It was on sale for $1.99 and I really don't think the show was even worth that. Writing is terrible and the acting is even worse. The crazy thing is that some big names are among the cast and they couldn't even pull the show off so that it was even enjoyable. I am a great lover of movies-- especially westerns so I was very disappointed. The show must have used elementary school students to do it's special effects as it all looked like Halloween makeup. Even more ridiculous was sewing the young gun's trigger fingers back on!!!! PLEASE..this western is after the American Civil War is over--not set in the future. Nudity served no purpose!!! Don't waste your time and money!!!
If your sick on the couch , looking for something to pass the time, skip this, unless you're going to take a nap soon It's that bad. I re-rounded a couple of times thinking I missed something because I couldn't possibly be seeing what I was seeing . I tried selling it to my husband "it can't be that bad because it has several of the Yellowstone cast members in it." Maybe it was co-written by Taylor Sheridan I said. :-) Nope. No such luck I sure hope they paid Cole enough money to make it worth his while. The soundtrack alone will make you want to turn the volume down. It is annoying as it gets.
Why did I give this stinker a 4? I like Stephen Dorff, Cole Hauser, and Costas Mandylor. The others, especially the leads, were mediocre. The actor who played the hero, Reno, seems miscast. His babyface, weak chin, and thin build simply don't make him look the part. And, his gun handling skills were atrocious. The CGI was weak, and gunfight scenes strangely staged. It wasn't a total loss, the above named actors played their parts well as expected, too bad the dialog wasn't better written. And the ending, my word, what a complete, total downer. There were many scenes with a humorous undertone, and I expected there to be a happily ever after ending. Not!
This movie started off hopeful but quickly got worse. So unbelievable. It's a western but everyone is always clean and perfect. Main character appears to be too young for this role and so not tough. The relationship between him and his wife is comical, but in a bad way. The dialogue is so bad! Slow, unbelievable, and definitely not correct for this time period. Main character gets two fingers completely cut off, sewn back on, and they work in 2 days. Characters don't mesh or make sense. So many people are shot you wonder how anyone is left at the end of the movie. Overall it's unbelievable, slow, unrealistic, and has some really bad acting. Such a disappointment because it had two really good actors in supporting roles. I love movies, always watch with an open mind, and try to find something good. But this movie, only good thing was it eventually ended 🙁

This film is based on a graphic novel. Reno (Jack Kilmer ) and Vegas (Camille Collard ) are newlyweds in a stage coach on their way to Nevada to open a saloon. In transit they are attacked by three men. Reno has a Walter Mitty moment by killing the three bandits, saving the life of an Apache, and he also does a card trick. Rather than leave the three bandits there to rot, he has the stage coach drag them to the next stop. It just so happens the crooked sheriff/mayor (Stephen Dorff) is the brother of one of the victims who wants revenge. Mayor Bishop is the head of a group who are bitter followers of soldiers for a lost cause. There is a warrant for his arrest. Alone marshal (Cole Hauser) is sent to get him. Things to not go well for our good guys. The film ends up in multiple shoot outs and escapes. The medical miracle makes it the film worse. Started out fine, but goes down hill fast, Guide: F-word. Nudity (Myah White?) No sex.
I've seen high school plays better than this movie. Kinda reminded me of killer clowns from outer space So bad it was funny. Cole houser was good though. When they picked up the girl towards the end I busted out laughing because it looked like they were trying to pull her apart, after cole told the other girl to keep pressure on the wound Wtaf. Chopped his fingers off then the sqaw seed them on and he was good to after two days. The script was bad, the acting was bad editing, the scene cuts, the stunts, explosions, all of it was horrible. How could you edit this thing and call it a finished product? This movie was so bad I'm having a hard time filling this review with six hundred characters.
What a hugely failed attempt at creating a good western to help fill the gap left by Yellowstone! Not even Cole Hauser or several other good actors could save this awful movie. I don't know if it was a combination of bad writing or really bad acting on the part of main characters but I cringed at most of it. The plot was okay, sort of, but somehow just didn't click. I thought it was amateurish, corny, slow, even boring. Maybe if Cole Hauser, Foree, and Brings Plenty had more important roles it could have helped redeem this picture, but as for me, it was a real disappointment. Don't waste your money or time.
Never saw Cole Hauser in anything but Yellowstone and recognized Stephen Doroff name so gave it a chance. Both were good for what they did with the script. The cinematography was good but the script failed. The two leads were so-so, their character names were Reno and Vegas. Think what you want about the names/background because there is not any more information in the storyline. The writers lazily used modern gambling city names for that context. Film cliched everything - young Bonnie and Clyde gamblers, lots of confederate flags for the bad guys, cool Apache Indians/mysticism, oppressed black man even added the obligatory lesbian scene with very attractive black woman. And lots of characters/scenes who added nothing. Way too much... fewer cliches would have gone a lot farther for a better script. I usually do not spot goofs, but one scene had bad guy shot out of a second floor window. The camera stayed on the window to long and you could see the desert landscape - there was no room. Sadly can't recommend but had so much potential.
